Preferred Business Systems has an exciting opportunity available for someone seeking a position in purchasing. We are looking for someone with a positive and outgoing attitude for our fast-paced office in Whippany, NJ. As a purchasing manager, you will be responsible for all purchasing, logistics, and inventory functions for the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders
  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to the master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
  • Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  • Provide administrative support to the Leadership team as needed
  • Develop professional relationships with partner vendors
  • Provide detailed monthly reports and be prepared to present to management
  • Be prepared to track purchasing goals and department objectives
  • Work seamlessly with other departments to ensure all procurement and inventory issues are addressed

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Computer skills: MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, etc.), the Internet and other research tools, word-processing and databases (MS Certification is a plus)
  • Use of office equipment: fax, copier, printer, scanner, binding machine, multi-line phone system, etc. Ability to quickly grasp complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, as well as accept direction.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with all levels of staff and guests.
  • Ability to excel in deadline-driven, high-volume environments
  • Any type of CRM platform experience is a plus
